Back when I wrote about my trip to San Marino over the holday, I mentioned Giordano's band Io e i Gomma Gommas. A couple Fridays ago, they played a show in Faenze (not Firenza!) and Valentina invited me to come see their concert. We left after work and took the train two hours north. Faenza is a small, old town (aren't they all) with a beautiful main square.
I wish we had been able to look around a bit more and take a few more photos but we were lost and running late to meet up with everyone. At the club, called Tempo Notte, we met the rest of the guys in the band, the other groupies (I'm a groupie now, or maybe a roadie) and hung around until they played. The club provided free drinks and dinner for everyone, tagliatelle con ragu and I even had an extra panino because I'm large and I need more food than anyone else (I also wanted to abuse my powers as a member of the band's posse). The venue was cool - located in a basement cellar with brick walls and ceiling and a crowd that looked more like what you would see at Ron Toms instead of the typical Italian bar. The show was loud and fun (I actually really like their music) although the crowd was small.
Afterwards I helped them pack all their gear and we drove back to Ancona; I was in bed by 4. Just another night being a part of the lives and times of rock icons.
